Toyota has announced the detailed information for its 2016 Avalon in Chicago auto show today.

The biggest mechanical update is in the retuned suspension (Toyota developed two version for the 2016 models, one for XLE through Limited; another for the Touring trim). There are other minor cosmetic changes such as the LED lights (including the optional LED headlight) .

Toyota Crown + 2.0 turbo engine and 8AT

Today, the first China-spec Toyota Crown has rolled off the production line. The Crown sold in China is based on the Toyota Crown Majesta, which is sold in Japan. Compared to the Crown Majesta, the China-spec Crown has added another 2.95-in to the wheelbase, makes it to be 115.2 inches.

One big news to the Crown: besides the current engine option (the 2.5L V6, with 6AT), Toyota is going to introducing the 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder (which is currently used on the 2015 Lexus NX200t), and mates it to the Aisin-sourced 8-speed automatic transmission.

Toyota Camry and Corolla Special Editions Announced

In the upcoming Chicago auto show, Toyota is going to bring us the 2016 model year facelifted Avalon, and also special editions of the brand’s hot-selling Camry and Corolla.

There is no mechanical changes for the Camry and Corolla special editions. Major changes are mainly in wheels, exteior/interior colors. All special edition Camry and Corolla get push-button engine start as standard.

The Camry Special Edition will only be available on the SE trim, equipped with the 2AR-FE 2.5L 4-cylinder engine, good for 178 hp and 170 lb-ft of torque, 6-speed automatic transmission is the only choice...

Toyota RND Is Just A Joke

Two days ago the Toyota UK division posted a mysterious photo indicating a “RND Concept” is coming on its way.

In fact, this is just a joke and the “RND” stands for “Red Nose Day”, which is considered to be a semi-holiday in UK (you can learn more history about this day here). The “RND Concept” is nothing but a Toyota Auris with a red nose.

While it is a good idea for a large corporation to participate in a charity activity, however, the way to market it is a different story...

Today Toyota released a teaser image about its upcoming RND Concept, which is said to be announced next Monday, in the UK.

RND Will Be In Production Ready Form

While the “RND” name is pronounced the same as “R & D” (which commonly stands for “research and development”), this concept is not just a hypothesis – according to the press release, Toyota promises it will be in the production-ready form.

We guess this is the preview for the successor of the legendary Toyota Supra, what is your opinion?
