Let’s Talk About Engine Valve Technology

You probably do not know what does “engine valve technology” mean if you are not a car enthusiast. However, you may have already heard of terms like “VVT-i” (on Toyota cars), “VTEC” (for Honda), “VANOS” and “Valvetronic” (for BMW), “VarioCam” (Porsche). These are how each auto maker name its engine valve technology. In this article I would try to discuss some interesting stuffs about this topic.

The internal combustion engine in a modern automobile is a 4-stroke engine, and it has intake and exhaust valves. It is easy to imagine that the optimal timing of the open/close of the valves, should not be fixed under all workloads...

Porsche 911 GT3 RS Information Leaked

The Porsche 911 GT3 is an exceptional sports car that sends out 475hp from a naturally aspirated 3.8L flat-6 engine. But it seems Porsche is not going to stop at this, and today we heard a news that a hotter version, called “911 GT3 RS” is coming.

Now I will leave you with the below images to dig ...

Porsche Cayman GT4 Announced, Upgraded to 385HP

Meet the Porsche Cayman GT4

Inspired by the story of Frankenstein, Porsche created the GT4 variant of the Cayman.

Porsche_Cayman_GT4_1

The Cayman GT4 borrows the 3.8L flat-6 engine from the 911 Carrera S, detuned to 385hp (the 911 S has 400hp). From the outside, especially the front fascia, wheels, and also the fixed rear wing, all reminds me of the 911 GT3.

For those who do not want to shift by himself and prefer the PDK automatic transmission, then the Cayman GT4 is not a suitable choice, because only a 6-speed manual transmission is offered on this car.

Porsche claims the Cayman GT4 can run the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 7:40, at least 10 seconds slower than the current 911 GT3...
