Report: BMW Added 3 More Models to be Build in China

To lower costs and attract more customers, most major auto makers have set up manufacturing factories in China now.

Because of local policy and regulations, almost all foreign makers chose this way to expand its product in China market: they are collaborating with one of Chinese local auto companies and set up a joint venture. For example, Ford is working with Chang’an Automobile, Honda has signed contract with Guangzhou Automobile. For, BMW is teamed up with Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Limited (CBA), and formed “HuaChen BMW” for China market.

Latest 2016 BMW 7-Series Interior Spy Shots

During the last few days, there are some spy shots of the redesigned 2016 BMW 7-series (the G11 7-series) interior layout. From the below gallery we have some findings.

1. The instrument gauge is a combination of round dial frames and digital LCD content (including speed/tachometer scale readings, indicating needles) display;

2. iPad style navigation display screen like the current F30 3-series;

3. Not much of the console area are covered in leather or wood trim, especially the center armrest part, it looks like lots of plastic is used instead.

BMW Changed The Free Maintenance Program Policy for 2015 Models

Starting from this month (July 2014), BMW has changed its free maintenance program policy for all 2015 models sold in the US after July 1st.

The major change is: the program will only cover the BMW new car’s initial purchaser, owner, or lessee. This means although you sold your new BMW when the program is still valid for you, the 2nd owner will not be eligible for the free maintenance program.

There is one exception: if you transfer the car title to another person in your household (a person live in the same place as your vehicle registering address), called “household transfer” in BMW’s term, then the program can still be applied on the new owner.

Toyota – BMW Cooperation Will Bring Us The Next Supra and Z4

Toyota and BMW have signed a contract recently regarding a joint operation to design and manufacture some car models.

Today the Japanese media – Nikkei, reported that as the first step, the two companies are currently working on a sports car platform. This platform will be used in the next generation of Z4 for BMW, and the revived Supra for Toyota.

This news further confirmed the previous news that Toyota is putting the FT-1 concept into production track. The next Supra will look like the FT-1 concept shown below.

2016 BMW Will Introduce 330i/430i and 340i/440i Models

We get the latest news for the BMW F3x models. Starting from the 2016 model year, the current N20 4-cylinder turbo engine will be replaced by the newly designed B48 engine; and the award-wining N55 turbo-6, will be upgraded to the B58 engine.

Therefore, the current N20-equipped models (328i/428i) will be renamed 330i and 430i. The N55-equipped cars (335i/435i) will be designated as 340i/440i.

This is not just a name change, according to our insider source, those two engines will be at least 10% more powerful than their predecessors. More specifically, the 330i/430i will be around 270ps; the 340i/440i will be approx. 330-340ps (depends on options chosen).
