It is also rumored that Lexus is going to design the next-generation of the RX SUV to be a 3-row-seater. In fact, during our interview with Mr. Yasuo Kajino, Group Manager of the Lexus Design Division, Mr. Kajino mentioned to me that the LF-C2 concept does not indicate only one production model, in fact it reflects the possibility of several new model design styles. Maybach Resurrection?

Mercedes-Benz discontinued the Maybach brand several years ago, but this doesn’t mean the German auto maker is giving up the ultra luxury sedan market. The 2016 Mercedes-Maybach S600 is clear proof of this.

The new Maybach version of the S600 has an extended wheelbase than the standard S-class sold in the US market, reaching a total wheelbase of 132.5 inches. The luxury sedan is propelled by a V12 bi-turbo engine good for 523hp and 612 lb-ft of torque, available at 1,900RPM.

What other lighting technology is being used?

LED headlights are no longer uncommon in the automobile industry, now even the Corolla LE comes as standard.

We’re not sure if you’ve heard, but some luxury brands are moving onto other types of illumination technology such as the laser headlights developed by BMW and Audi. But Mercedes-Benz seems to stick to the conservative way, which keeps its faith in the LED route.

What Kind of Branding Plan Does Mercedes Have in Mind?

Mercedes-Benz released some interesting news that clearly states there is a future branding plan in mind. It regards how they will name the “special” versions of their existing vehicle models.

– For variants focusing on high-output and sporty handling, Mercedes plans to use the “AMG” brand after the model number.

– For variants which belongs to the ultra-luxury/exotic sector, the “Maybach” name will appear after the model name.

The GLC isn’t something new to the Mercedes product line. It is simply the redesigned GLK class with a new name.
