2016 Mercedes-Benz C450 AMG Sport: Officially Announced

The Detroit Auto Show has kicked off today and Mercedes-Benz just announced a new member in the C Class family: the 2016 C450 AMG Sport.

But please do not be confused with the “AMG” in its name, the C450 AMG Sport is not a AMG car like the C63 AMG. It is in fact a C Class with some AMG treatments, like the M Sport in BMW, or the S-Line in Audi.  One major upgrade for the C450 AMG Sport is the engine: although it is shared with the C400’s 3.0L twin-turbocharged V6, its output is boosted up to 362hp and 384 lb-ft of torque.

In the press conference about 5 hours ago, Dr. Dieter Zetsche, chairman of Daimler AG and head of Mercedes-Benz named this self-driving prototype as “F015”.

The F015 concept maximizes cabin space by pushing the wheels forward and backward respectively. And it also let its passengers “connected” to the outside by installing a total of 6 high-resolution LCD touchscreen in the cabin.

Maybe you have heard of the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6X6 (image shown below), which by its name basically means a 6-wheel-drive truck.

If you think the G63 AMG 6X6 is just simply adding two more wheels to the standard G63 AMG SUV, and the G63 AMG 4X4 is just an upgrade version of the standard G63 AMG, then you are totally wrong. In fact you can consider both of the 6X6 and 4X4 as a totally different car than the G63 AMG.
