Confirmed: Audi Is Working on the Q8

Due to developement of the large SUV market (BMW X6, Land Rover Range Rover Sport, Mercedes-Benz MLC Class, Tesla Model X), especially growing customer base in US and Asia, our VW insider told us the production Audi Q8 is given the green light and its arriving date is set.

At this moment, the initial official reveal venue is said to be in China.

The car body will made of around 60% of steel, 40% of aluminum or other lightweight materials. V6 and V8 engines will be offered, including a V6 diesel engine. Four-wheel-drive Quattro system is standard.

Audi sold more A6 than the Toyota Camry in China

2014 March sales statistics of the Chinese auto market come out today.

During the last month, total auto sales in China region is 1 ,094,472 units. One surprising fact is for March 2014, the Audi A6 outsold the Toyota Camry (15,800 units vs. 15,723 units). Compared to the best selling mid-size luxury sedan in US market, the Mercedes-Benz E class only sold 6,335 units.

In the same period, BMW sold 12,279 units of the 5 series in China; and Mercedes-Benz sold 3,360 units of the E class.

Audi posted significant sales growth in Chinese market for 2014 first quarter

From VW official press news, its Audi brand enjoyed a 21.1% sales growth for the Chinese market in the first quarter of 2014, total sales is 124,520 units. The hottest selling model is the A3 hatchback and sedan.

Audi has 2 factories in China, one in Changchun and another in Foshan. It is also the best selling luxury brand in China. During the full year of 2013, Audi sold 492,000 units, BMW sold 390,700 units and Mercedes-Benz sold 228,000 cars.
