Recently BMW has signed a 3-year contract with Baidu, a Chinese technology company, to collaborate on the self-driving car development. For those who are not familiar with Baidu, here is something easy to understand: Baidu is the Chinese Google.

According to the contract, after the 3-year term, BMW will build a highly-automated self-driving car, which can run on China’s public road. The reason why BMW selected Baidu as collaboration partner, is because Baidu has the map data and all related information service which BMW currently does not have...

There are still 3 to 4 years before the next generation of the 6-Series will replace the current one (F06/F12/F13 6-Series), but there are already some early information leaked from BMW insiders. Below is the summary:

– Lighting: laser headlights, and also OLED (organic light-emitting diode)
– Chassis: will be 550lbs lighter than the current 6-Series
– Car frame construction: high-strength steel, aluminium, magnesium and carbon fiber. Roof structure, A/B/C pillars will be made with carbon fiber
– Engine: the next M6 model will have around 650hp
– AWD and RWD will be offered
– Both the coupe and convertible version will be offered...

The current generation of BMW 5-series (F10) is close to the end of its life cycle, and BMW will officially announce its successor (G10 5-series) in 2016 as a 2017 model.

We have covered some preliminary details of the next-gen M5 in our previous report. Today we see two more news about the G10 5-series:

1. A turbocharged 3-cylinder engine will be joining the 5-series product line
2. The G10 M5 will has at least 626hp from a turbocharged V8 engine

The M5 will be coming out 1 to 2 years after the “standard” G10 5-series goes on sale, we will update you with any news we heard down the road.

Here are some spy shots of the upcoming BMW F86 X6M.

The redesigned X6M will be officially announced next year as a 2016 model. It is expected that the X6M will come with the same 4.4L turbocharged engine (S63Tu) on the current M5, which produces 560hp. It also gets something not exist in the current X6M: a 7-speed double-clutch transmission.

Last Friday (August 1st, 2014), BMW starts the second generation X6 (F16 X6) production in its Spartanburg, SC plant.

According to BMW, the first production X6 is a xDrive 35i wears the Sophisto Gray color, with Cognac Black nappa leather. That very X6 is heading for a dealership in China.

The BMW Spartanburg plant will also produce the upcoming 3-row-seat X7.
