According to BYD, the S9 will be powered by a turbocharged gasoline engine, one main electric motor, and also another 4 independent electric motors for each of the 4 wheels, which makes a total of 6 engines in one vehicle. The S9 weights around 6,000 lbs, but with the help of the 6 engines, this heavy SUV can accelerate to 100km/h (62mph) in 3.9 seconds.
Obviously the S9 is an AWD vehicle with complete torque-vectoring feature on all 4 wheels, thanks to the independent electric motor on each wheel.
Other details of the S9 including its preliminary dimensions: L/W/H is 5,000/2,000/1,750 mm, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm (118.1in).
BYD is going to unveil this flagship vehicle later this year, we will report back once there is more information available.
