BYD S9 Will Come with 6 Engines, 0-60 Less Than 3.9 Seconds

You may probably have heard of the Tesla Model X with the gullwing doors. Now Chinese auto maker BYD is going to build a SUV which is much more fancier, and it is called “S9”.

According to BYD, the S9 will be powered by a turbocharged gasoline engine, one main electric motor, and also another 4 independent electric motors for each of the 4 wheels, which makes a total of 6 engines in one vehicle. The S9 weights around 6,000 lbs, but with the help of the 6 engines, this heavy SUV can accelerate to 100km/h (62mph) in 3.9 seconds.

BYD Delivered First Two California-built Electric Buses

Yesterday (04/28/2014), Chinese auto maker BYD delivered two electric buses, which are build in its Lancaster, CA factory.

The BYD electric bus can hold a charge for a full day (24 hrs) and go with a range of 155 miles. It will be charged in the night during the off-peak hours. These first two California-build buses are delivered to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

New electric cars in the 2014 Beijing auto show

If the brand “Denza” sounds unfamiliar to you, here are some backgrounds of this auto maker: it is a joint venture between BYD (a Chinese company specialized in electric car technology) and Mercedes-Benz, and its headquarter locates in Shenzhen, China.

Denza has released its first production vehicle in the 2014 Beijing auto show. The Denza electric car has a wheelbase of 113.4 inches, and is equipped with a 115hp electric motor. With a full charge it can reach a range of 186 mile.
