This Is How The 2015 Toyota Camry Looks Like in Asia

American Camry vs Asian Camry

In this article we wanted to show you what the 2015 Toyota Camry looks like in Asia vs its American counterpart.

Does this below image look like a Camry to you? If we covered its license plate, most people in the US may have a hard time recognizing that it’s a Toyota Camry. Why?  Because it doesn’t look EXACTLY like the Camry we see here on the street everyday.

This is the 2015 Toyota Camry, which Toyota specially made for the Chinese market. The 2015 model adds LED daytime running light and has a very different exterior styling than the US-spec Camry, which also reflects on the back. Someone may say the shape of its trunk lid and the tail lights looks more like a Honda Accord.  Do you agree? The below photo shows the V6 trim.

Not only does the China-spec 2015 Toyota Camry have different exterior styling, the same applies to its interior. For example the instrument cluster has a different color and lighting scheme (it uses blue light effect).

There’s something pretty special for the China automobile market: consumers in China typically focus on the interior material quality and electronic features. So it is very common in China that a very typical mid-level car will have many luxury features which are only available (or come as standard) in luxury cars in the US. For example, wood trims all over the cabin, leather seat, navigation system etc.

And the back seats are heated and they even have 40/60-split independent electronic adjustable reclining features (in US, this feature is usually seen in luxury full-size sedans such as the Lexus LS, Mercedes-Benz S-class etc)

Do you suddenly feel that luxury cars sold in US are actually not so “luxury” in other countries? I cannot say for sure, but ONE thing that cannot be denied is: cars sold in the US usually have more powerful engines – because the US government does not tax new car sales by its engine displacement, or CO2 emission, which many other countries in the world do.

If this is indeed the 2015 Camry compared to what we got here in the states. All I can say is i’m angered and jealous that the foreigners are still getting better vehicles then we are. I simply cannot understand for the life of me why we can’t have this EXACT model show above here in the states. It just doesn’t make any sense to me our new model is devoid of ANY wood trim compared to the 2014 model which was gorgeous if you ask me particularly the interior. They had a great thing going with that model and then had to “radically” change just about everything that was great about it. Also, I was a fan of the gated automatic with surrounding wood trim and now we get a black fascia with a leathery “manual style” auto shifter…? If you were going for sportier I can understand that but wasn’t that already designated for the SE model…? I have a friend who just purchased a V6 XLE top of the line and it is pure BLAH bland. Back to the drawing boards Toyota some changes are just too radical and in this case the old saying applies; “If it ain’t broke DON’T fix it”…(g)
