You probably do not know what does “engine valve technology” mean if you are not a car enthusiast. However, you may have already heard of terms like “VVT-i” (on Toyota cars), “VTEC” (for Honda), “VANOS” and “Valvetronic” (for BMW), “VarioCam” (Porsche). These are how each auto maker name its engine valve technology. In this article I would try to discuss some interesting stuffs about this topic.

The internal combustion engine in a modern automobile is a 4-stroke engine, and it has intake and exhaust valves. It is easy to imagine that the optimal timing of the open/close of the valves, should not be fixed under all workloads...

Maybe you have seen our previous reports before, now the all-new 4th-generation Civic Type R is official: equipped with a 2.0L turbocharged VTEC 4-cylinder engine, producing 310ps, 295 lb-ft of torque. Only need 5.7 seconds to reach 100kmh (62mph), top speed can reach 167mph.

Below are some detail specs:

– 2.0L turbocharged VTEC 4-cylinder engine
– 310ps@6,500RPM, 295 lb-ft of torque@2,500RPM; redline: 7,000RPM

Two weeks ago, we have reported the new Civic Type R is coming to the 2015 Geneva Motor Show next month, with three teaser images. Today, more photos of the new Civic Type R have surfaced on the internet.

From the below photos we can see the quad exhaust in the back, and also the huge rear spoiler. Enjoy the gallery and stay tuned for our coverage next month.

The 2016 Honda Pilot is finally here, bowed at the Chicago auto show today.

Here are the information we have:

1. Direct-injection 3.5L V6 engine with Variable Cylinder Management cylinder deactivation feature
2. Standard 6-speed automatic transmission, optional 9-speed transmission on higher trims
3. FWD or optional AWD
4. 300 lbs lighter than the current 2015 model
5. Optional LED projector headlights with automatic high beam
