2017 Ford F150 Raptor

Ford is really showing off its latest technology at the Detroit auto show. Besides the new Ford GT and GT350R Mustang, take the 2017 Ford F150 Raptor (goes on sale fall 2016) as example, it debuts the world’s first 10-speed automatic transmission.

As shown in the below drawing in the US Patent #8834310 granted to Ford, the Ford 10R transmission has 6 under drive ratios, 1 direct drive ratio and 3 overdrive ratios. The 10 speed gears are implemented using 4 planetary gear sets, which is the same as the ZF 8HP and GM 8L series (but with only 8 speeds); the gear sets are controlled by 6 shift elements (2 brakes + 4 clutches).

2016 Ford GT Goes Turbo

Ford made the last unit of the GT super car back in 2006 and discontinued it since then. Today the new generation GT was finally announced and will be going in production starting 2016.

Ford applies some cool high-end technology in this flagship super car:

– 3.5L EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 engine, with output more than 600hp
– 7-speed automatic double-clutch transmission
– Car body made with advanced materials: carbon fiber passenger cell, aluminum front and rear subframes hosted in structural carbon fiber body panels

The Detroit Auto Show has kicked off today and Mercedes-Benz just announced a new member in the C Class family: the 2016 C450 AMG Sport.

But please do not be confused with the “AMG” in its name, the C450 AMG Sport is not a AMG car like the C63 AMG. It is in fact a C Class with some AMG treatments, like the M Sport in BMW, or the S-Line in Audi.  One major upgrade for the C450 AMG Sport is the engine: although it is shared with the C400’s 3.0L twin-turbocharged V6, its output is boosted up to 362hp and 384 lb-ft of torque.

Cadillac CTS Price Drop

When you want your product to upmarket, the typical way is enhancing your product design and quality, and then raising its price.
