For your reference, the current record holder of the fastest production car from 0–300 kilometres per hour, is the Hennessey Venom GT. The record is set on January 21, 2013. The Venom GT is equipped with a GM-sourced 1,244 turbocharged 7.0L V8 engine.
It looks like Hennessey is not satisfied with the record they have already own, so it is now making a even more powerful Venom, called the “Venom F5”.
The Venom F5 will still use the same 7.0L V8 engine, but with larger twin turbochargers, larger intercoolers and an updated fuel system. Total output is expected to be north of 1,400hp. Design top speed is 290mph.
The Venom F5 will extensively utilize aluminium and carbonfiber in its body construction, which is outsourced to Lotus. According to Hennessey, the Venom F5 will weight less than 2,866 lbs (1,300kg).
To claim the Guinness fastest production car record, at least 30 units of the vehicle must be made and for sale. Hennessey estimates this goal can be achieved in around 2016.
