Mercedes-Benz Deletes ML550 and ML350 BlueTEC, Adds ML400 and ML250 BlueTEC for 2015 Model Year

Today Mercedes-Benz USA announced the news that, for the 2015 model year, the M-Class SUV will discontinue the V8 ML550, which will be replaced by the ML400, comes with a twin-turbo V6 which also can be found in the 2015 C400, output is identical: 329 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque, good for a 0-60 mph acceleration of 6.0 seconds. Fuel consumption is greatly improved from the ML550’s 14/20 mpg (city/highway) rating to a much better 18/22 mpg result.

Despite downgrading from the V8 to V6 and also a big drop of horsepower/torque (402 to 329hp, 443 to 354 lb-ft of torque), the 2015 ML400 is more expensive than the 2014 ML550. The ML400’s MSRP is $62,900, while the ML550 is $59,450. Below are images of the 2015 ML400 4Matic.

When you browse MBUSA.com now, you may find that the previous diesel ML350 BlueTEC is gone for the 2015 model year. But please do not be disappointed if you want a diesel-powered M-Class, because Mercedes-Benz will release a ML250 BlueTEC later on, for the US market. Obviously the ML250 will come with a 2.1L 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine, just like the current GLK250 BlueTEC and E250 BlueTEC, with 200hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. You should see the ML250 BlueTEC very soon.
