Yes you see it right: this is not the Nissan Juke, it is called “Infiniti ESQ”, a new model based on the Juke, which Nissan specially made for the Chinese market at this moment. Below are some latest spy shots.
It looks odd that Infiniti borrows the exterior/interior of the Nissan Juke in such a direct manner. The reason why Nissan doing this, according to our insider source, is because Nissan want to participate in the compact CUV market in China as soon as possible. Infiniti does plan to bring in the QX20, which is still under development and need another 1 – 2 years to complete. To fill the gap during this period, the quickest way is to pick something that is already exist and rebadge it. So here comes the Infiniti ESQ.
The ESQ will be based on the Nissan Juke Nismo, equipped with the MR16DDT 1.6L turbo 4-cylinder engine. Maximum output is rated at 197 hp, with 184 lb-ft of torque. The engine will be mated to a CVT transmission. All-wheel-drive is optional. According to Nissan, the 0-100 kmh time for the AWD ESQ will be around 8.2 seconds. The ESQ is carrying a wheelbase of 99.6 inches, exactly the same as the Juke.
