Toyota Crown + 2.0 turbo engine and 8AT

Today, the first China-spec Toyota Crown has rolled off the production line. The Crown sold in China is based on the Toyota Crown Majesta, which is sold in Japan. Compared to the Crown Majesta, the China-spec Crown has added another 2.95-in to the wheelbase, makes it to be 115.2 inches.

One big news to the Crown: besides the current engine option (the 2.5L V6, with 6AT), Toyota is going to introducing the 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder (which is currently used on the 2015 Lexus NX200t), and mates it to the Aisin-sourced 8-speed automatic transmission.

Currently Toyota does not sell any rear-wheel-drive sedan in the US market that bearing the Toyota badge; but this is not the case for other markets in the world.

For example, Toyota is selling a full-size luxury sedan in some Asian market, including Japan itself. One example is the Toyota Crown Majesta, now at its 6th-generation (S210). The Toyota Crown Majesta has some relationship with the Lexus GS, but with a longer wheelbase of 115.2in.
