Lexus GS-F and RC-F Convertibles Confirmed, with 500HP V8 Engine

If you’ve been following our articles about the Lexus GS-F sedan, you may have probably known that the rumor has it,  the Lexus GS-F & RC-F will come with a 500hp 5.0L V8 beast if an engine.

Now there’s MORE exciting news: in this year’s Lexus USA National Dealer Meeting in Los Angeles recently, Akio Toyoda, CEO of the Toyota corporation, confirmed:

1. It will build the convertible version of the RC-F, which is currently available in the Coupe version.

Report: The Future Lexus V8 Engine Plan

As we are approaching the market release date of the completely-new Lexus RC-F, speculations of how Lexus will do for its V8 engines in the next few year starts to emerge.

As we know the 5.0L V8 engine in the RC-F is based on the firm’s 2UR-GSE V8, which is currently used in the IS-F, but with significant modification and enhancement to push maximum output way more than the 450 hp mark.

What Will The RC-F Engine’s Output Be?

When the 2015 Lexus RC-F was revealed back in January, the official press states that its engine has more than 450 horsepower and more than 383 lb.-ft. of torque.

The reason why Lexus does not announce the exact numbers, is because their engineers are still working on the final production version of the engine, fine tunning its parameters.

News from Austrialia’s National Motoring, Lexus engineers are trying to put another 10 to 15kW of muscles on top of the already-published “more than 450hp” figure. This means we are looking at 463 – 470hp when the RC-F is in dealership’s parking lot later this year.
