Live from NY: the All-New 2016 Jaguar XF (with Live Photos)

Jaguar released more details on the 2016 XF in the NY auto show. For our previous coverage please see here.

Here are the updates:

– 340hp V6 version: 0-60 in 5.2s
– 380hp V6 version: 0-60 in 5.1s, top speed 155mph
– AWD system: under normal conditions only rear wheels has power; multi-plate wet clutch acts as power coupling to drive front wheels
– AWD models equipped with ZF 8HP70 8-speed automatic transmission
– RWD models equipped with ZF 8HP45 8AT
– RWD curb weight: 3,770lbs; AWD curb weight: 3,880lbs
– Car body torsional rigidity 28% stronger

Officially Announced: The 2016 Jaguar XF

The current Jaguar XF has been around for 8 years and it has been overdue for a renewal. Today Jaguar finally took the wraps off the all-new second generation XF, starting from the 2016 model year.

Here are the highlights:

75% of the car body architecture are made with aluminum, this is the biggest selling point (currently there is no similar competitor is using so many aluminum for the body-in-white)
– Weight saving benefited from the aluminum material: 132 lbs (RWD) and 265 lbs (AWD)
– Longer wheelbase: 116.5in
– Only two 3.0L supercharged V6 are offered during the initial launch: 340hp/322lb-ft, and 380hp/322 lb-ft

All-New 2016 Jaguar XF Interior Image Published, Full Detail on Mar. 24

The current XF is the “oldest” model in the whole Jaguar product line. Debuted back in 2007, it has been around for almost 8 years. Riding on the Ford DEW platform, which the previous Lincoln LS also uses, the current XF has been outdated and is urgently in need for a full redesign.

The new 2016 XF will use aluminum extensively throughout the car body. Powertrain options are likely to be carried-over for the first model year. Today, Jaguar has released one interior photo of the all-new 2016 XF. You can see its design language is inline with other new Jaguar models.
