Today Honda released information regardint its hot-selling compact sedan – the 2015 Civic.

Compared to the 2014 model year, the 2015 Civic does not has siginificant changes or updates. One major point in the press release is the addition of the Special Edition model (Civic SE).

Basically speaking, the Civic SE packs some upgrade options with a discounted combined pricing. The SE trim comes with automatic AC, an upgraded audio system with LCD display and also the Honda LaneWatch system. The Civic SE has very similar features to the 2015 Toyota Corolla, but is $1,475 more expensive.

If you are following Honda USA’s product plan, you may have already known in this winter, Honda will release a new compact SUV called the “HR-V”.

The HR-V shares the same platform as the redesigned Honda Fit, and will be build at Honda’s Celaya, Mexico assembly plant. The HR-V is positioned lower than the Honda CR-V and Honda Pilot. Below is image of the HR-V:

In fact, the HR-V is not called “HR-V” in oversea markets. For example in the Japanese domestic market, its name is “Honda Vezel”. Below is image of the Vezel:

In China, Honda is going to sell another version of the HR-V (or Vezel), and its name is “Honda XR-V”...

The Honda CR-Z is an very unique vehicle in the US market, from the following aspects:

– The only 2-seat front-wheel-drive hatch back
– The only 2-seat hybrid vehicles under $100k
– The only hybrid vehicles that offers manual transmission

Even the CR-Z is relatively lightweight (curb weight: 2,639 lb), its 1.5L natuarally aspirated gasoline engine + electric motor powertrain is considered to be underpowered, for only has a total of 130hp and 140 lb-ft of torque output.

“Hot hatch” is the high-performance variant of a hatchback car model, which can be either a 3 or 5-door. One key feature of the hot hatch is its higher-output engine. Due to typical size and weight of a hot hatch, its engine output rarely goes above 400hp. At this moment, a hatchback with more than 300hp can be considered a “serious” hot hatch.

Recently (mid-July), Honda upper management has green-lighted the S2000 successor project.

The S2000 successor is developed alongside the new Acura NSX, at Honda’s Performance Manufacturing Center in Ohio. Below are information we got at this moment:

– Carbonfiber and aluminium car frame construction
– Mid-engine layout
– Turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder engine plus an electric motor
– Total combined power output: approx. 365 hp
– 7-speed dual-clutch transmission
– RWD only
– Scheduled on sale date: fall/winter 2017
