There are many things can be said for the 5.2L V8 engine installed in the 2016 Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang, which outputs a glory 526 hp. While you may see comments saying how good this engine is in many articles in other media, we are going to show you some insights of this V8 which you might not be able to see, and Ford also will not tell you.

First let’s take a look at the exhaust manifold.

From the above photo you can see, for each cylinder bank, the 1st and 3rd cylinder’s exhaust path are combined into one branch, and the 2nd and 4th cylinder use an independent exhaust path (branch), and finally the 3 branches are integrated into 1 single outlet...

We have already covered the GT350 Mustang extensively in our previous articles, except this important number: engine output. Today Ford officially announced the output: the flat-plane V8 will provide 526hp and 429 lb-ft of torque.

– Displacement: 5.2L (5163cc), bore: 94mm, stroke: 93mm
– Compression ratio: 12.0:1
– Output: 526hp @ 7500rpm, 429lb-ft @ 4750rpm; Redline: 8,250 RPM
– No fuel direct-injection
– Plasma transferred wire arc cylinder-liner, which eliminates the need for cylinder sleeves
– Flat-plane crankshaft is steel-forged with gun drilled (to reduce weight)
– Lightweight, high-capacity composite oil pan with baffling design

The 6th-generation Ford Mustang has entered into the second model year, and Ford has announced the 2016 model year Mustang’s details today.

Generally speaking there is no mechanical changes made to the 2016 Mustang; major changes are addition of several packages to different trims, either aesthetic enhancements, or previously available on a trim and now extended to other trims. Below is a summary:

The Shelby GT350 Mustang has been extensively covered by automotive media in the past 6 months, and you can see all the details from our previous articles. Today Ford announced that the 2015 GT350 will be on sale starting 4th quarter of 2015, and the production will be limited to 100 units.

It has been rumored since last year that, Ford and GM are working together on the 9-speed (FWD) and 10-speed (RWD) automatic transmissions (the details are, Ford is working on the 10-speed and will supply to GM; in return, GM will work on the 9-speed and supply to Ford).

Now according a report from the Automotive News, the F150 truck will get the 10-speed transmission at the end of 2015 as a 2016 model; and the same will happen on the Mustang too.

Although we do not know the exact timing of this change on each model, we can safely bet you will have a chance to feel the 10-speed in 2016.
