Yesterday night I attended Cadillac’s “Road to Table” event in Laguna Beach, CA.
The idea of this program is connecting the car driving experience with fine dining pleasures, which similar to Lincoln’s “Day Night” program.
The difference between the two is: for Cadillac they just let you drive the CTS for a couple miles to the restaurant, then treat you with a dinner; for Lincoln, they lend you a MKC or MKZ for 2 days, and give you a $100 debit card; you can go to anywhere within the 48-hr period, no mileage restriction, and you can use the $100 anywhere, not necessarily in a restaurant, even though Lincoln suggests you to.
Cadillac held the Orange County Road to Table event in Laguna Beach. In the following let me show you what I have seen yesterday night.
First, you need to arrive in their rendezvous location (Seven Degrees). There was a complementary valet parking on-site (you cannot park by yourself). Once I arrived, there were signs to tell you where to go for registration.
More close look:
This is the registration booth and some posters. There were also drinks and snacks (skewered and grilled chicken meat)
After registering my name and verified my driver license, stepping outside I see lots of CTS waiting in lines (to let you drive to the dinner location)
They are all CTS, mixed with both the 3.6L V6 and the 2.0T I4 turbo engine.
I know which one has the 3.6L V6 engine and which one has the 2.0T, from the badge on the trunk cover.
Our dinner location is at the Studio of Montage Laguna Beach.
After I stepped out of the CTS and walked to the lobby, I saw lots of luxury cars parking here and there. For example in front of the lobby, a family was unloading their luggage from a rental (maybe from Hertz?) Mercedes-Benz GL450 and prepare to check in.
Entering the lobby and walked across corridor, I went into the resort’s backyard. Not far away, an ELR is quietly waiting there to greet guests.
Obviously electric cars still sounds interesting to most people.
and the most questions I heard is: how much is it?
After I walked by the ELR, I arrived at the patio outside of the dinning room. People in the dinning room are still busy with preparing the meal. The patio is facing the Pacific Ocean. However, since it is almost 9pm, I cannot see anything outside of the patio, except the lights emitted from houses on the hill. I enjoyed wines and some snacks (goat cheese balls, some kinds of sashimi etc.) during waiting on the patio.
Now this is the dinning room.
Time for dinner!
The menu with the Cadillac logo printed on the head:
Before serving the dinner, chef Craig Strong talked about the food and his viewpoint in culinary art.
Here comes the 3-course dinner. Since we are not a food blog, please excuse me to go over this part quickly. This is the appetizer:
The beef steak:
I forgot to take a shot of the dessert before I ate it, so sorry, no photos for the dessert.
After the dinner, I am allowed to enter the kitchen and had a short tour. The chef was answering questions from the guests.
After that, we are chauffeured back to the rendezvous location in these 2015 Escalade.
This is not the end of the story. After I was back to the Seven Degree, there were something on display, and I checked them out thoroughly. But I am not going to talk about those stuffs in this article. You will see them in tomorrow’s article on our site.
Below is gallery of all the photos in above for your viewing – if you are tired of reading my writing.
That’s really amazing. Can you provide more this kind of information?
