Today we got some tips from our Toyota insider. The major news is the all-new designed LS will utilize a combination of aluminum and carbon fiber, in large percentage (as high as 80%) of its body structure.

Latest Update on the All-New 2017 Lexus LS Flagship Sedan

Last December we have reported some information regarding the next-gen Lexus LS sedan. Today we are going to show you more exciting updates.

First is a test mule of the 5th-gen (XF50) LS sedan, probably coming as the 2017 model year, is caught by Japanese magazine “MAG-X”. Below is one of the spy shot (for the complete photo set please see the gallery at the end of this article).

Please note that this is just a test mule, which means it is using the current LS exterior shell, but with new powerplant and chassis underside. This explains why you may find in the spyshot the car looks just like a current LS with camouflage.

 Lexus LS: Looking Back In Time

The current Lexus LS flagship sedan’s design (chassis code XF40, the 4th generation) can be traced back to 13 years ago. The development lasted for around 5 years, and Lexus unveiled the production version in January at the 2006 Detroit auto show as a 2007 model.

In 2006, the 4th-gen LS sedan showcased some new technology, all of them were the first in the industry. For example, the 1UR-FSE V8 engine with dual fuel injection (direct plus port inject); the 8-speed automatic transmission; the AC system with infrared body temperature sensors etc. You wouldn’t find any other cars that had that technology at that particular time.
