There is one major drawback for turbocharged engines. The drawback  is called “turbo lag”, which means the turbo cannot enter into full boosting mode before there is enough exhaust gas to spool up the turbine.  This builds up boosting pressure! What does that mean? It means there is always a delay between the time that an engine receives command to provide high output, therefore the engine can actually provide that amount of output.

There is one solution comes to mind,  Don’t let the turbocharger depend on the exhaust gas to spool up.

Production Volkswagen Golf R400 May Come with 10-speed DSG

Latest insider information indicates for the production version of the Golf R400, its engine’s torque output will exceed 332 lb-ft (450 Nm). This exceeds the design maximum torque that the current 6-speed DSG transmission on the Golf R can handle.

In our May.11 article, we report the future VW development plan. We mentioned the 10-speed DSG transmission. Today our source told us, it is the transmission that will go into the production Golf R400. By design, this new 10-speed transmission can handle torque up to 369 lb-ft (500 Nm).

Latest Volkswagen New Product Plan

In autumn this year, VW will release the wagon version of the Passat sedan, called “Passat Variant”.

In engine and drivetrain technologies, VW will announce its 10-speed double clutch transmission (10-speed DSG) and also a 1.0L turbo engine.

The 10-speed DSG can handle a maximum torque of 369 lb-ft, rumors said the future Tiguan will be the first candidate to use this new transmission; and the first model to receive the new 1.0 TSI engine will be the VW Polo.
