More News on the 7.0L V8 Cadillac ATS-V+

Two days ago we have reported that Cadillac is going to put the 7.0L V8 engine in the ATS-V+, and mates it to either a 8-speed automatic transmission or a 7-speed manual transmission.

Today we got an update that, although the GM 8L90 8-speed automatic transmission will make its way to the ATS-V+, the 7-speed manual one is unlikely to be seen on the ATS-V+.

The major reason is cost: the Tremec TR-6070 7MT currently used on the C7 Corvette, is designed for the rear-placement layout (the Corvette’s transmission is placed near the rear axle, NOT bolted to the engine like other FR-layout cars)...

Cadillac Working on ATS-V+, Possibly Using 7.0L V8

We have received some tips from our friend who is working in GM, that Cadillac is planning a higher performance version of the already-high-performance ATS-V, named the “ATS-V+”.

The first question to be asked must be: what engine? There are multiple choices within GM’s parts bin. If you have noticed the engine compartment of the ATS-V (shown below), you will see it is more than enough to accommodate a V8, since the 3.6L twi-turbo V6 engine is sitting almost 100% behind the front wheel axle.

In fact, our insider told us Cadillac is currently serious considering bringing the firm’s LS7 7.0L V8 in the ATS-V+. The 7...

2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z06 Order Guide Leaked (08/20 Updated with Official Specs)

Even though the pricing for the 2015 Corvette Z06 is not available at this moment, a lot of interested buyers have put their names on their local Chevy dealership’s waiting list. As far as I know in major metro areas, some dealership’s list has hundreds of people’s name on it. People just simply want to buy the 650-hp  Z06 regardless what will the MSRP be (with so many people on the waiting list, it is impossible to buy the Z06 under MSRP at this moment), or what options they can opt for.

A New Round of Horsepower Competition

Eight years earlier, cars sold under the $35k mark seldom get a 300hp+ engine (with exceptions like the 2005
Mustang GT), not to mention whether it was possible to get a 300hp+ luxury car at that time. Even though the
Mustang GT gets a 300hp V8 engine which is considered “high output” at that time, it sacrifices refinement
and interior material qualities and lots of other features.

But in the end of 2005, after Lexus released the 2GR-FSE engine, which was used in the 2006 IS350, the
situation is permanently changed. Equipped with the dual-injection-system 2GR-FSE engine, The IS350 has
306hp and carries a MSRP of $35,440 and its invoice price is $31,186 (for many peopl...
