More News on the 7.0L V8 Cadillac ATS-V+

Two days ago we have reported that Cadillac is going to put the 7.0L V8 engine in the ATS-V+, and mates it to either a 8-speed automatic transmission or a 7-speed manual transmission.

Today we got an update that, although the GM 8L90 8-speed automatic transmission will make its way to the ATS-V+, the 7-speed manual one is unlikely to be seen on the ATS-V+.

The major reason is cost: the Tremec TR-6070 7MT currently used on the C7 Corvette, is designed for the rear-placement layout (the Corvette’s transmission is placed near the rear axle, NOT bolted to the engine like other FR-layout cars)...

We have received some tips from our friend who is working in GM, that Cadillac is planning a higher performance version of the already-high-performance ATS-V, named the “ATS-V+”.

The first question to be asked must be: what engine? There are multiple choices within GM’s parts bin. If you have noticed the engine compartment of the ATS-V (shown below), you will see it is more than enough to accommodate a V8, since the 3.6L twi-turbo V6 engine is sitting almost 100% behind the front wheel axle.

Impression: The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06

In this weekend’s Orange County Auto Show, Chevrolet displayed the latest and greatest Corvette Z06.

The 2015 Corvette Z06 is equipped with a 6.2L supercharged LT4 V8 engine with a 1.7L Eaton R1740 TVS supercharger. The powerplant makes 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque.

Under the spotlight, the Corvette Z06 exterior looks really good. I have a chance to look at the interior briefly during the show, however from my point of view, the interior styling, materials and build quality is not up to its price level.

More Rumor Comes in for The Next-Gen Chevrolet Corvette (C8)

One month ago we reported some information leaked out regarding the next generation of the Chevrolet Corvette (the C8 Corvette).

The most exciting, and the most puzzled conjecture is the mid-engine layout of the future Corvette. In our previous analysis, we are almost sure to rule out the possibility that the “normal version” of the C8 Corvette to be mid-engined, due to the targeting price range and the cost concern.

Today Car and Driver magazine provided some more rumor about this topic, it claims Chevrolet is working at a mid-engine layout, but it is not for all C8 Corvette, instead it is just for the C8 Corvette ZR1, dubbed as the “Zora ZR1”.

The rumor claims the Zora ...
