Rolls-Royce SUV Will Be Significantly Different than the BMW X7

Following last month’s announcement that Rolls-Royce is going to build a SUV model, the British auto maker’s CEO Mueller-Oetvoes spilled out more details on this SUV in a recent interview.

Major news is that the Rolls-Royce SUV will use an all-new design of aluminum spaceframe in the body construction, and this design is not to be shared with the rumored BMW X7. The Rolls-Royce SUV will use aluminum extensively for the body and exterior panels, which should save a lot of weight than using steels.

In addition to this, Mueller-Oetvoes also mentioned the aluminum spaceframe design will be used in all future Rolls-Royce vehicles.

In fact, during our interview with Mr. Yasuo Kajino, Group Manager of the Lexus Design Division, Mr. Kajino mentioned to me that the LF-C2 concept does not indicate only one production model, in fact it reflects the possibility of several new model design styles. Rolls-Royce SUV Is Under Development, Debut in 2018

Insider news indicates BMW Group’s high-end brand Rolls-Royce, is currently busy with the design of the first SUV model in the brand’s history. The project’s internal name is called “Cullinan”.

The SUV will be positioned above the Ghost sedan, and below the Phantom flagship. The company is expecting to sell 2,000 unit annually, and the production version will be debut in 2018, around the same time that BMW rolls out its X7 SUV.
