US-Spec 2016 Lexus ES Sedan Announced

Three month ago, we have shown you details of the facelifted 2016 Lexus ES. Today Lexus published the US market 2016 ES, and below are some highlights.

– Standard LED Headlights
– Revised exterior/interior styling
– Car body construction with higher rigidity
– Front suspension enhanced with opposite-wound coil springs
– Powertrain options are carried-over from the 2015 model: ES350 with V6 engine and ES300h with hybrid powerplant

Breaking: Lexus Will Start US Production by Year End

Maybe not known to all: currently Lexus has a total of 6 Japanese domestic plants, and only one oversea factory which is located in Ontario, Canada (Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada, Inc.), which builds the Lexus RX CUV.


However, Lexus will soon add one more oversea factory inside the United States: the 2016 ES sedan sold in the US market will be built in Toyota’s Georgetown, Kentucky plant.

This not only marks the first time that the ES sedan is built outside of Japan, but also the first time that Lexus is making a car inside the US.

Facelifted 2016 Lexus ES Comes with Stiffer Body Construction

Today at the 2015 Shanghai auto show, Lexus introduced the mid-cycle refreshed 2016 model year ES sedan.


Besides the exterior styling changes, here are the highlights for the 2016 ES:

– Reinforced car body construction with higher rigidity
– A new 2.0L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine with fuel direct-injection system will be offered in China, Russia and Taiwan
– US market will retain the 3.5L V6 engine, and also the hybrid powerplant for the ES300h model
– The ongoing 2.5L 4-cylinder engine will be offered in other markets
