Acura NSX Type R Coming in 2018

If you have followed the latest Acura news, you may have already known the 2nd-generation NSX is coming as the 2016 model very soon. Today, news surfaced on internet indicating that an even higher performance variant of the NSX – the NSX Type R is coming 3 years later.

From the news source (Motoring Australia), the NSX Type R will have more than 600hp, coming from the 3.5L twin-turbo V6 engine and a total of 3 electric motors.

Not only the NSX Type R will get a stronger powertrain, but also it will replace most of its aluminum/steel panels with carbon fiber parts, which is said to decrease the curb weight significantly...

In the press release at the end of this article, you will find the term “ablation casting” appear many times in the description. What is “ablation casting”?

Simply speaking, it is a special casting technology, which the mold can be dissolved immediately after the casting is done, by using chemicals. The benefit of ablation casting is it allows rapid cooling of the casting component, therefore makes it less brittle than the traditional casting methods.

Live from Geneva: the 2016 Honda NSX (with 19 HD Photos)

Currently the Acura brand only exists in North America, China and Russia. Therefore outside of those markets, the Acura NSX will be re-branded as the Honda NSX. However, the manufacturing and assembling of all Acura/Honda NSX will be in Acura’s Performance Manufacturing Center in Marysville, Ohio.

2016 Acura NSX: A Complete High Resolution Photo Gallery

We have covered all detailed information about the upcoming 2016 Acura NSX a month ago in this article. Today we are going to show you a gallery containing 14 high resolution photos of this supercar.

From these photos we notice one interesting thing about this upcoming NSX: the rear drive shafts that propel the two rear wheels have unequal lengths. Although this will not caused issues such as the torque steering in front-wheel-drive cars, what caught our attention is the thing that causes the unequal length drive shaft in the NSX – an extra component attached to the transmission/rear differential (highlighted in red in the below image).
