Report: 2015 Volvo XC90 Pricing Less Consumer Friendly in China

After the official reveal of the newly redesigned 2015 XC90, Volvo also announced the pricing for China market, the country where Volvo’s parent company is located in.

The 2015 XC90 will starts at RMB 818,000 for the most base model (however, we do not know what is the most base model of XC90 for the China market at this moment); and the “First Edition” which is limited to 1927 units (see our report yesterday), will be sold for RMB 1,058,000 (1.05-million RMB), and of course, since it is a limited production, you cannot negotiate the price.

Mercedes-Benz Will Announce The C450 AMG in 2015 Detroit Auto Show

Today comes the news that, Mercedes-Benz will announce the W205 C450 AMG model in next January’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

The C450 AMG is not the “real” AMG model such as the C63 AMG. It is something similar to BMW’s “M Performance” line such as the M235i.

The C450 AMG will use the same engine on the C400, but with higher boost pressure to bump up the output to 367hp. Refer to our previous report for more details about the C450 AMG spy shots, pricing, and more technical stuffs.

Lexus NX200t Turbo Engine to Get High Output Version?

The upcoming 2015 Lexus NX200t is equipped with the first turbocharged engine within the whole Lexus history. This engine has the Toyota internal code name “8AR-FTS”.

The 8AR-FTS has an 2.0L displacement with an open-deck, midi-skirt type aluminum cylinder block. It also has a fully balanced forged steel crankshaft, cast-in iron cylinder liners.

Will The 2016 Volvo XC90 Be The Last Chance To Save Volvo?

During an interview with Automotive News Europe, the Volvo CEO made some comments about the upcoming redesigned 2016 XC90: “There is no second chance, of course. This has to work. We’re confident it will.”

We all know the fact that, Volvo’s sales performance has been lacked behind other luxury brands in US market for a long time. For example, during 2013, Volvo sold a total of 61,233 units in US; compared to BMW’s 309,280 units, Mercedes-Benz’s 334,350 units, Audi’s 158,061 units and Lexus’ 273,847 units.

2015 Volvo XC90 US Pricing: from $65,000 to $135,000

Although there are plently of detailed information regarding the redesigned 2015 Volvo XC90 (which we have covered here, here and here), as of last week we have not seen any news about the MSRP.

Yesterday the Wall Street Journey reported some preliminary information about how much Volvo is asking for its newest flagship SUV, a wide range from $65,000 to a whopping $135,000. Here are original quotes from the WSJ article:

“Priced in the $65,000–$135,000 range, with a sticker rivaling that of BMW’s X5 and Volkswagen’s Audi Q7”
