The Future Speed Record Breaker: 2015 Hennessey Venom F5

For your reference, the current record holder of the fastest production car from 0–300 kilometres per hour, is the Hennessey Venom GT. The record is set on January 21, 2013. The Venom GT is equipped with a GM-sourced 1,244 turbocharged 7.0L V8 engine.

It looks like Hennessey is not satisfied with the record they have already own, so it is now making a even more powerful Venom, called the “Venom F5”.

The Venom F5 will still use the same 7.0L V8 engine, but with larger twin turbochargers, larger intercoolers and an updated fuel system. Total output is expected to be north of 1,400hp. Design top speed is 290mph.

Land Rover Released The 2015 Range Rover Sport SVR

Today Land Rover unwrapped the high performance model of the 2015 Range Rover, it is called the “Range Rover Sport SVR”.

Below are some of the essence features of the Range Rover Sport SVR, you won’t find this summary in any other places:

– The only SUV that has full aluminum body construction
– Same V8 engine as the one in the Jaguar XKR-S
– ZF-sourced 8HP70 8-speed transmission
– Electronic limited-slip central differential, 50:50 default F/R torque distribution
– 2-speed transfer case with off-road gear
– eLSD rear differential with torque-vectoring functionality

2015 Lexus NX Production Started

Yesterday (Aug. 8), the Lexus NX SUV started its production at Toyota’s Kyushu plants.

The Miyata Plant, is responsible for assembling of the NX; while the Kanda Plant is building the NX200t’s 8AR-FTS turbo engine. The NX200t is the first Lexus vehicle to receive a turbocharged engine.

The first production NX is a red NX200t FSport. This is the first production NX200t rolling off the assembling line.

Mercedes-Benz Deletes ML550 and ML350 BlueTEC, Adds ML400 and ML250 BlueTEC for 2015 Model Year

Today Mercedes-Benz USA announced the news that, for the 2015 model year, the M-Class SUV will discontinue the V8 ML550, which will be replaced by the ML400, comes with a twin-turbo V6 which also can be found in the 2015 C400, output is identical: 329 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque, good for a 0-60 mph acceleration of 6.0 seconds. Fuel consumption is greatly improved from the ML550’s 14/20 mpg (city/highway) rating to a much better 18/22 mpg result.

Despite downgrading from the V8 to V6 and also a big drop of horsepower/torque (402 to 329hp, 443 to 354 lb-ft of torque), the 2015 ML400 is more expensive than the 2014 ML550...
